Sevillian artist Javier León Pérez has been invited to participate in NordArt 2026, one of the most important international contemporary art exhibitions in Europe, taking place from June 6 to October 4, 2026, at the historic Kunstwerk Carlshütte industrial complex in Büdelsdorf, northern Germany.
Founded 27 years ago and now established as one of the most prestigious international platforms dedicated to contemporary art, NordArt brings together selected artists from around the world every summer in a curatorial project distinguished by its conceptual depth, diversity of artistic languages, and ability to foster dialogue between cultures. The exhibition welcomes more than 100,000 visitors annually and transforms the former Carlshütte iron foundry into an immersive experience where art, architecture, and contemporary thought converge.
Javier León Pérez’s participation in this edition marks another important step in the international consolidation of his artistic career, following recent exhibitions and projects in cities such as Hong Kong, Brussels, Berlin, New York, and Beijing.
The NordArt organization, led by curators Wolfgang Gramm, Inga Aru, and Taso Gramm, has selected a series of works by the Sevillian artist to be included in the 2026 main exhibition. These include:
- Vast Night 1 (2023), oil on canvas, 170 x 115 cm
- Mystery of Life 1.2 (2025), oil on canvas, 150 x 100 cm
- The Birth of New Ideas (2024), oil on canvas, 130 x 100 cm
- Entity 1 (2025), oil on canvas, 140 x 114 cm
According to the organization itself, NordArt seeks artists capable of addressing the tensions and transformations of the present through sensitive and personal perspectives, creating bridges between individual experience and collective consciousness. In this context, Javier León Pérez’s work engages with themes related to perception, inner resonance, contemporary spirituality, and the relationship between matter and consciousness.
The 2026 edition will also feature special curatorial projects dedicated to the Baltic States, contemporary Chinese art, female artists from Central Asia, and Mongolian creators, reinforcing the exhibition’s international and cross-cultural character.
Held within an exhibition space of more than 22,000 square meters alongside an extensive sculpture park, NordArt has become an essential reference point within the international art circuit, particularly noted for its ability to connect artists from East and West through a global vision of contemporary art.
With this invitation, Javier León Pérez continues to expand his presence within leading international institutions and platforms, reaffirming an artistic practice that combines painting, material exploration, and abstract language through a deeply sensory and contemplative dimension.
