Blind

The process of mental dispersion is also a consequence of the enormous acceleration of the rhythms of our society, particularly within the big cities. The enormous difficulty in concentrating on something can be perceived by ourselves as it increases. Acceleration also makes the slow and natural encounter between people extremely difficult.

Blind series is an invitation to close our eyes and look within ourselves. They are drawings made with graphite on canvas. The drawing is made up of an infinite number of very fine parallel lines made with mechanical pencils and which are directed diagonally, covering the entire surface of the painting. The overview is a tapestry in which a series of undulating rhythms are arranged.

Intuitively, I have had an inclination to draw repeating sequences of lines with which I covered the entire surface. But later I realized that these sequences required a work process that activated a meditative state in me. The reason why I made those drawings was not that I wanted to experience meditation when I made them, the intention was more related to a search for something pure and austere, I felt that making drawings with basic visual elements and repeating them towards an abstract poetics that referred to something deep and mysterious, not only in what happens in the drawing work itself, it was also an austere metaphor that referred to the mysteries of our own existence.
