Still Light

In the tireless pursuit of my own artistic expression, I have now re-encountered oil painting as a way to connect with a deeper part of myself.

These new paintings stand as a door to the depths of my own being. They are the confluence of emotions and thoughts, a journey towards an intimate corner where the folds of existence unfold in a play of light that emanates from the deepest recesses of the psyche.

To make these paintings I start from the reference of a model made with paper, which allows me to create structures that serve as a starting point and that in some way manifest an internal geometry that, in turn, is a reflection of order intrinsic of the universe. In some way these models are a revision of the pictorial genre of the “still life” which consisted of capturing objects on canvas such as flowers, food or dead animals, which showed a philosophy of existence of each era. The light is the most important elements I’m using for making my models and is for that reason the tittle of this series is “STILL LIGHT, some how is referring to the “archetype of creation” and, at the same time, it is aesthetic form of the self construction.

In my paintings, the space that delimits the canvas becomes a place of visual experimentation where color, shape and the illusion of space are linked in an intimate sense of deep meaning. Color is presented as a way to expand my own emotional language.

In these paintings, the illusion of space and light are present. It shows the bridge between what we perceive and what we intuit. In this game of spaces, shadows and lights, they are layers that somehow hide the very essence of reality, a reminder that our perception is only a part of the vast cosmic fabric in which we are immersed.

Each art work is a reflection of my personal exploration of existence process. In each stroke, in each mixed pigment, I face the paradox that art is, at the same time, an individual expression and a universal search. In this search for beauty and truth, I find a sensitive and personal poetics that transcends time and space. Each work is a journey to the center of my being.

These five paintings that I present here are an invitation to enter into a dialogue with ourselves and with the world around us. Painting understood as a mirror of our own experiences and a window towards the contemplation of the essence of human existence.
